The Delta State Police Command has arrested two brothers, Emmanuel Eugene, 18, and Kelvin Eugene, 20, over the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. The police confirmed the arrest on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The incident reportedly occurred on Okoro Street, Third Marine Quarters, Third Marine Gate, in Warri.

The teenager's mother, Mrs. Endurance Ochuko, had left the girl at home to look after a younger sibling while she went to the market. When she returned, her daughter was missing. A source said the family searched for her before a neighbour informed them that the teenager had been seen around the suspects' residence the previous day. The girl was later found hiding inside a church building in Effuru. The teenager initially refused to speak but later accused the two brothers of sexually assaulting her. She said she fled because she was afraid and ashamed to return home.

The mother alleged that one of the accused brothers actively participated in the search for her missing daughter. She also claimed that her daughter said Emmanuel Eugene gave her salt and water to drink after the incident. Speaking on the allegations, Emmanuel Eugene admitted having sexual intercourse with the teenager but claimed that she approached him willingly and told him she was 18 years old. He confirmed giving her salt and water but said it was because she asked for it. Kelvin Eugene also denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he did not force the teenager and that she approached him voluntarily.

The Delta State Command's spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a text message. The mother has called on the security agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure justice for her daughter. The suspects, who admitted having canal knowledge of the teenager, claimed they didn't force her but that she willingly came to them. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from child rights advocates, who have called for swift justice.
