The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against kidnapping and violent crime, successfully rescuing a 24-hour kidnap victim and recovering a Beretta pistol following a fierce gun battle with abductors in the rugged Morogma Mountains. The operation, which took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, involved a coordinated team of police operatives attached to the Song Divisional Police Headquarters and local hunters who acted on credible intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the kidnappers.
The victim, identified as Alhaji Rabe Suleiman, a resident of Roma Village in Suktu District, Song Local Government Area, was abducted in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026. According to an official statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the joint security team tracked the kidnappers to their hideout around the Morogma Mountains, where they engaged the armed criminals in a fierce gun duel. Overwhelmed by the superior firepower and tactical response of the security team, the kidnappers fled into the surrounding mountains with suspected bullet wounds, abandoning their captive in the process.
The victim was rescued unhurt and immediately taken to a medical facility for examination before being reunited with his family. During a search of the area, security operatives recovered one Beretta pistol, one live round of Beretta ammunition, a torchlight, a small bag, suspected charms, and food items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Umar Hasan, praised the courage, professionalism, and effective collaboration between police operatives and local hunters. He described the successful rescue as another demonstration of the Command's determination to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents. The Commissioner directed security personnel to intensify efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, stressing that those responsible for the abduction would be brought to justice.
CP Hasan reaffirmed the Command's commitment to combating kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across Adamawa State through intelligence-driven policing and community collaboration. He further urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crimes and facilitating the arrest of criminal suspects.
The latest operation adds to a series of recent successes recorded by the Adamawa State Police Command in its efforts to strengthen security and protect lives and property across the state. The Command has appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
