IGP Disu Deploys 27 Commissioners of Police to State Commands, Strategic Formations in Major Force Reorganisation

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a major deployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to State Commands and strategic formations across the country, following the approval of his recommendations by the Police Service Commission. The deployment, announced in a statement issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, is aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, enhancing leadership across Commands and formations, and consolidating the ongoing reform and repositioning of the Nigeria Police Force.

The newly deployed Commissioners of Police to State Commands include CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo to Abia State; CP Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau State; CP Saka Adewale Ajao to Bayelsa State; CP Ajo Geofrey Ordue to Cross River State; CP Nanna Oji Ama to Anambra State; CP Patrick Daaor to Edo State; CP Tani Murtala to Jigawa State; and CP Samuel Erale to Delta State. Other approved deployments include CP Yemi John Oyeniyi as CP Intelligence & Training, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike as CP INTERPOL, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja; CP Aina Adesola as CP Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Uduak Ita Otu as CP Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT), FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos; CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf as CP General Investigation (G.I), FCID, Abuja; and CP Taiwo A. Adedeji as CP Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Zungura as CP Administration, FCID Annex, Kaduna; CP Nelson Nwamana as CP Training & Courses, Police Academy (POLAC), Kano; CP Akingbade C. The Inspector-General of Police has charged the affected senior officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new assignments by strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism, and deepening community engagement in line with the vision of the Force. He urged them to remain steadfast in safeguarding lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and service delivery.

The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to strategic personnel deployments as a key component of its ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening internal capacity, and delivering more effective policing services to all Nigerians. With 27 senior officers receiving new postings, the deployment represents one of the most extensive reshuffles of police leadership in recent months, covering 10 state commands and 17 strategic formations across the country.
