The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers at Aladere Village via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest in the Oke-Ogun area of the state. The teenager was abducted in the early hours of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, prompting his father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, to report the incident at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters.

Acting swiftly on the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised a joint security team comprising police operatives, personnel of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters to launch a coordinated search-and-rescue operation. The team carried out an intensive combing of the surrounding bushes and the adjoining Government Reserve Forest.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the sustained pressure mounted by the security operatives proved decisive, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee deeper into the Government Reserve Forest. "The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family," the statement said.

The command said intelligence-led operations had been intensified within the forest and surrounding communities to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects. "Investigation is in progress, while concerted efforts are being sustained to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice," the police added.

Commending the bravery, synergy, and professionalism exhibited by all security personnel involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, praised the collaboration between the police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to intelligence-led policing and robust inter-agency collaboration in the fight against violent crime.

The police also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that would aid ongoing security operations across the state. The successful rescue underscores the command's unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring that criminal elements find no safe haven within the state.
