The circumstances surrounding the death of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba have taken a dramatic and disturbing turn, as her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, has alleged that she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, flatly contradicting widespread reports that she succumbed to complications from breast cancer. The 40-year-old actress, who had publicly battled the disease and undergone surgery, was initially reported to have passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with many speculating that her long struggle with cancer had claimed her life. But in a shocking interview with Celestial Reality Check, the media investigative unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, Onadeko, who is the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Onibuore Cathedral in Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki, insisted that the cancer was not the cause of her death.
According to Onadeko, he received a cryptic phone call around midnight from an unidentified person who delivered the bombshell news. "It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu," he recounted. The prophet admitted that he does not know the exact police station where Osoba allegedly died, adding that he subsequently reported himself at a nearby police station after hearing the news.
Onadeko provided a detailed timeline of Osoba's final movements, revealing that she had insisted on visiting a woman identified as Mrs Kehinde Osoba, who he said also operates a church. He explained that the actress had wanted to see him as well, but he was unavailable due to church programmes. According to the prophet, Osoba was accompanied by a hairdresser with whom she had been staying. "The hairdresser that Tope was sleeping in her place was the person that went with her. We maintained communication and she even posted 'Ogo tuntun' until I heard that she died in the police station," he said. He also noted that Osoba had left the church about three weeks before her death and had struggled with smoking, which he said he had encouraged her to quit.
The prophet forcefully denied the swirling allegations that Osoba had been poisoned, maltreated, or subjected to inhumane treatment before her death. While acknowledging that she had battled breast cancer and undergone surgery, he insisted that the illness was not responsible for her passing. "When I first met her, after I did a redemption prayer for her, she told me she wanted to do surgery for cancer. I prayed for her," he recalled.
Onadeko also used the interview to vehemently deny allegations that he had misappropriated funds donated for Osoba's cancer treatment or used such money to construct his church. He challenged the narrative that the actress had received N30 million for her surgery, insisting that the money was paid directly into her account and that he never had access to it. "What I know is that people gave her money, including Mike Adenuga, who offered her a cheque. I never had access to her money," he said. He also clarified that his church had existed for 20 years before he met Osoba, dismissing rumours that he had used her funds for its construction. The prophet further refuted claims that Osoba was prevented from using her car, stating that she drove herself to Iperu shortly before her death.
Onadeko's explosive allegations come just days after Osoba's family had publicly appealed to the public to disregard rumours and unverified reports surrounding the circumstances of her death. The family had earlier dismissed reports claiming she died from breast cancer, describing them as false and unauthorised. The actress's death had initially been announced by fellow actress Foluke Daramola via Instagram on Wednesday, with many outlets reporting that she had passed away after a battle with breast cancer. Osoba had publicly spoken about her cancer journey, having discovered a lump in her breast during a self-examination in late 2024. In 2024, she had announced her return to public life after the experience, describing the period as one that contributed to her healing, personal growth and empowerment.
As of the time of this report, the Lagos State Police Command had not issued any official statement regarding Onadeko's claims, and the exact circumstances surrounding Osoba's death remained unverified. The actress is scheduled to be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State. For now, the public is left with more questions than answers. Who was the midnight caller?
