Imo State Governor and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has firmly dismissed speculation that the pro-President Bola Tinubu political mobilisation group has been dissolved following the constitution of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. Speaking at an emergency meeting with state coordinators, directors, and members of the organisation in Abuja on Tuesday, Uzodinma declared that the group remained the "organic structure" of the President and would continue to function before, during, and after the general election.
The governor's intervention came amid growing anxiety among members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, following reports that the group could be disbanded after Uzodinma was appointed secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council last week. The uncertainty had thrown state coordinators across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory into a quandary, with some party sources suggesting that the structure earlier set up by the group for the propagation of President Tinubu's campaign would be dismantled. Addressing the concerns head-on, Uzodinma told the gathering that President Tinubu had specifically asked him to reassure members that the organisation remained intact. "Mr President has told me to tell you that nothing has changed, and Renewed Hope Ambassadors is still there," he said.
The governor stressed that the group was created by Tinubu himself and was never intended as a personal political project of any individual. "Renewed Hope Ambassadors was created by Mr President, not by Senator Hope Uzodinma," he declared. According to him, the organisation was established with a clear mandate: to take the policies, programmes, and achievements of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians and explain the impact of the government's reform policies. "Upon the creation of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, we were charged with the responsibility of taking the achievements of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the people, to educate the people, to create awareness, to let the people know the difference between the Nigeria before 2023 and Nigeria after 2023," Uzodinma said.
The governor disclosed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had grown into a formidable grassroots structure, with members operating from polling units and wards to local government areas, states, and the national level. He noted that the organisation was currently undertaking a media tour of all six geopolitical zones to highlight the achievements of the Tinubu administration and explain the impact of its reform policies. "As I speak, there is an ongoing media tour of all the six geopolitical zones, highlighting the achievements of Renewed Hope and the achievements of Mr President, and the results and dividends of the various reform policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," he said.
Uzodinma sought to draw a clear distinction between the Presidential Campaign Council and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, explaining that while campaign councils were constituted for specific elections, the Ambassadors represented a permanent political mobilisation structure. "The constitution of the Presidential Campaign Council is a political issue that happens every time there is an election," he said. "Renewed Hope Ambassadors, you are the organic structure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You will still function and play roles even after elections". Using a military analogy to drive home his point, Uzodinma told the members: "You are like the barracks. Soldier will come, soldier will go, barrack will remain". He added that the Presidential Campaign Council would be used for the election but would not replace the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. "The Presidential Campaign Council, which all of us are members of, will come and be used for election purpose. And after that, we will continue. We are not going anywhere," he said.
The governor disclosed that reports of moves to dissolve the group in some states had prompted him to convene the meeting urgently. "I'm told that some mischief makers in some states wanted the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to be dissolved. It became very worrisome. That is one of the reasons why I called for this meeting, that you are strong," he said. He assured members that the organisation already had an extensive nationwide structure, with offices across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as structures covering the six geopolitical zones. Uzodinma urged coordinators and members not to allow themselves to be demoralised, discouraged, or misinformed, stressing that they should return to their respective states and intensify mobilisation for the President.
In a significant announcement, Uzodinma revealed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in partnership with the Progressive Governors Forum and local government chairmen, would convene a nationwide political summit in the third week of September. The summit, which will bring together elected and appointed political officeholders across the country, will be addressed by President Tinubu and his running mate, Vice President Kashim Shettima. "In the third week of September, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in partnership with Progressive Governors Forum and Local Government Chairman will convoke a summit of all politically elected personalities and appointed in Nigeria. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our candidate and his running mate, will address the audience," Uzodimma said.
The clarification from Uzodinma comes against the backdrop of heightened political activity as the APC gears up for the 2027 general election. President Tinubu had last week announced the APC Presidential Campaign Council, which will be led by former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari, with Uzodinma serving as secretary. The announcement had sparked concerns that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which had established a massive grassroots structure cutting across all polling units, wards, and local governments in the country, would be jettisoned in favour of the new campaign council. Some party sources had expressed apprehension that the new setup could create further crises, particularly in states without APC governors, where governorship candidates would now lead campaigns.
However, Uzodinma's emphatic declaration that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would not be dissolved has put to rest, at least for now, the speculation that had gripped the organisation's members. By positioning the group as a permanent structure distinct from the temporary electoral machinery of the campaign council, the governor has sought to reassure the thousands of grassroots mobilisers who had invested their time and energy in building the organisation's network across the country. The governor's insistence that there was "no fight, no quarrel" and that "our product is the President" underscored the unity of purpose within the party's campaign structures.
As the 2027 election season gathers momentum, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors' role in mobilising support for President Tinubu's re-election bid appears secure. With a nationwide structure already in place and a major political summit on the horizon, the group is poised to play a central role in the APC's campaign efforts. For the thousands of members who had feared dissolution, Uzodinma's message was clear: the barracks will remain, and the soldiers of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will continue their march towards 2027.
