A 26-year-old Benue State University graduate, Oje Ejeh, also known as Mike, was brutally murdered on August 26, 2026, while carrying out his duties as a housekeeper for a Lagos-based real estate company at the Bluestone Treasure Estate in the Mowe-Ofada area of Ogun State. The Ogun State Police Command has arrested the suspect, identified simply as Adebiri, who allegedly used a bamboo stick to strike the victim on the head, leading to his death.
According to the deceased's brother, Alexander Oluji, who spoke to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Ejeh had gone to the estate to prepare a property for inspection by prospective buyers. While waiting for the clients, he was seen playing with the four-year-old son of a man who owned a property adjacent to the one he was preparing. The child's older brother later informed their father that the younger child was playing with Ejeh. Ejeh subsequently put the child down and went into the apartment to clean it. However, upon returning outside, the suspect, Adebiri, allegedly picked up a bamboo stick and struck him on the head, causing him to collapse.
He was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead upon arrival. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police. According to Oluji, residents of the area, including the suspect's wife, were well aware that Ejeh was the person in charge of the property. Oluji added that his brother had just completed his studies in French at Benue State University and was working diligently to earn a living. "That is why we are concerned about the circumstances surrounding his death and want justice for him," he said.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the suspect had been arrested and that the command was investigating the matter. "The command is very much aware of this case and the suspect has been arrested, while investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain the facts of the case for possible prosecution," Babaseyi said in a WhatsApp message.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for justice. The deceased's brother has appealed to the authorities to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book. As the investigation continues, the family of Oje Ejeh is left mourning a young life cut short in the prime of his career.
