The Nigerian Army has delivered a series of crushing blows to criminal networks across the country, neutralising scores of terrorists and apprehending 24 suspects in coordinated operations conducted between September 1 and September 3, 2026. A military operational report made available to journalists on Friday, September 4, detailed the successes of the three-day offensive, which spanned six states and targeted terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and their informants.
In Niger State, troops of the NATRAC Administration Battalion at Forward Operating Base Kotonkoro foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Kotonkoro-Bangi Road in Mariga Local Government Area. The troops' timely intervention forced the attackers to abandon five victims and flee into the forest. All five victims were rescued unharmed and handed over to community leaders.
In Benue State, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke arrested five suspects and recovered two AK-47 magazines and 46 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition following a clearance operation at a suspected terrorist hideout in Peva, which lies between Benue and Taraba States. The operation targeted terrorists, armed herders, militia groups, and other criminal elements allegedly hibernating in the area. During a separate fighting patrol along the Gbise-Igyudu Road in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, troops neutralised a terrorist and recovered a locally fabricated pistol, a pistol magazine, an AK-47 magazine, and several rounds of ammunition.
In Akwa Ibom State, troops arrested a suspected kidnapping kingpin linked to the abduction of five workers of SADICOMEX Mining Company Ltd. The arrest followed intelligence-led operations, and preliminary investigation identified him as a member of a four-man kidnapping gang. In Delta State, troops, working in collaboration with the Department of State Services, arrested 13 suspects during a raid at CH Palace, Otulu Community, Aniocha South Local Government Area. Two pump-action guns were recovered during the operation, and both the suspects and weapons were handed over to the DSS.
In Kaduna State, troops of Operation Enduring Peace apprehended a suspected terrorist informant at Sabon Gida Village, Sanga Local Government Area, following intelligence from the DSS. In a separate operation in Benue State, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper at Gou, Logo Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities. The army said the operations demonstrated sustained intelligence-led efforts to disrupt terrorist, kidnapping, and other criminal networks across the country. The three-day offensive underscores the military's determination to maintain pressure on criminal elements and deny them freedom of action across all theatres of operation.
