Suspected armed bandits have reportedly killed one person and abducted two residents during a nighttime attack on Ruwan Doruwa community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident reportedly occurred on the night of Monday, October 19, 2026, when armed men attacked the community, leaving one resident dead and taking two others into captivity.

According to information received by Stone Reporters News, the abducted residents were identified simply as Abbas and Buhari.

The identity of the deceased had not been established at the time of this report, while details surrounding the circumstances of the killing and abductions remain unclear.

It was also not immediately known how many armed men participated in the attack, how they entered the community or whether other residents sustained injuries.

The reported whereabouts of Abbas and Buhari remain unknown, and there is no confirmed information about whether their abductors have contacted relatives or demanded ransom.

Ruwan Doruwa is among the communities in Maru Local Government Area that have experienced repeated security threats involving armed groups.

In March 2026, the Zamfara State Police Command announced that security personnel had repelled an attempted attack on Ruwan Dorowa District after suspected bandits reportedly advanced towards residents observing evening prayers.

According to the police account of that earlier incident, officers working alongside military personnel engaged the attackers and forced them to retreat.

The community has also experienced previous abductions, including an incident reported in November 2023 when residents were taken captive by suspected bandits.

The latest reported attack comes amid renewed concerns about insecurity in Maru Local Government Area.

Earlier in October 2026, suspected bandits reportedly attacked Farin Ruwa community in the same local government area, killing a resident, abducting five people and setting harvested rice ablaze.

That incident was reported separately and has not been linked to the latest attack on Ruwan Doruwa.

As of the time of publication, Stone Reporters News had not obtained independent confirmation from the Zamfara State Police Command or military authorities concerning the reported killing and abductions.

There was also no verified information about a rescue operation or arrests connected to the incident.

Further details are awaited regarding the identity of the deceased, the safety of Abbas and Buhari, and any response by security agencies.
