Efforts are underway to reunite a young boy identified as Hashimu with his family after he reportedly fled his hometown following an attack by armed assailants and became separated from his relatives. The boy is said to be in the care of Hisbah officials in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to information attributed to a Hisbah source, Hashimu fled into the bush when armed attackers reportedly invaded his community. He subsequently found his way to Garki before travelling to Wudil in Kano State, where he came into contact with a food vendor.

The source said the vendor accommodated the boy for nearly three months, during which Hashimu reportedly assisted with washing dishes. The circumstances of his stay, including whether efforts were made to locate his family during that period, have not been independently established.

Hashimu was eventually handed over to the Kano State Hisbah authorities and subsequently transferred to Hisbah officials in Kankia, Katsina State, where he reportedly remains while efforts continue to trace his relatives.

The boy reportedly identified his father as Malam Sani Mai Almajirai and his mother as Hadiza. He also gave the names of his siblings as Yahaya, Maryam and Hafsat, mentioning another younger sibling described as a baby.

His hometown was identified as Tashar Hajiya, while his grandfather is reportedly known as Malam In. These details are being circulated to assist in locating his family, although they have not been independently verified.

Members of the public who recognise the family or possess reliable information about their whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Hisbah representatives through the telephone numbers provided in the appeal.

Anyone responding to the appeal should provide information directly to the appropriate authorities rather than attempting to take custody of the child independently. His identity and any claimed family relationship should be verified through appropriate child-protection procedures before reunification takes place.

The circumstances of the reported attack, the precise location from which Hashimu fled and the date he became separated from his family remain unclear.

Stone Reporters News urges anyone with credible information that could help reunite Hashimu with his family to contact the relevant Hisbah officials, while respecting the child's safety and privacy.
