The Nigerian Army has delivered a devastating blow to the operational capability of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East, arresting two critical logistics suppliers and intercepting a massive consignment of motorcycle spare parts and other items intended to keep the insurgents mobile and deadly. Troops of the 159 Battalion, operating under the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), and in conjunction with other security elements, made the arrests on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following actionable human intelligence about suspicious logistics movements in the Yunusari-Mobbar axis of Yobe State.

The operation, which took place at the Gumsa Bridge in Geidam Local Government Area, saw security forces swiftly mobilise a fighting patrol to intercept the suspects and their cargo. The military said the interception represents another successful effort by troops to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and deny them critical supplies required to sustain their activities. The suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the 27 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary legal action.

The sheer volume and variety of the items recovered from the suspects paint a disturbing picture of the scale of the terrorists' logistics network. The troops seized a massive haul of motorcycle components, including 50 motorcycle tyres, 10 crankshafts, 50 oil seals, 31 traffic indicators, 49 acceleration cables, and 46 clutch cables. The recovery list also included 20 spindles, 10 packs of bearings, 20 brake rods, 75 gaskets, 20 motorcycle brake shoes, 80 piston kits, 146 chains and sprockets, 11 speedometers, and 15 clutch plates. The troops also recovered piston rings, rocker arms, CDI units, shock rubbers, coils, Danpa rubbers, rectifiers, fuel taps, fuel filters, PAG valves, hand pumps, and ignition keys. In addition to the motorcycle parts, security forces recovered 145 pairs of footwear, which investigators are examining as part of the suspected logistics consignment, along with two Tecno Android phones and other items.

The interception of this logistics supply is a significant strategic victory. By cutting off the supply of motorcycle spare parts, the military is directly targeting the terrorists' mobility and ability to launch surprise attacks, particularly in the remote and border communities of the North-East. The military has affirmed that troops remain on high alert and are sustaining intelligence-led operations to dismantle all terrorist support networks across the theatre. Operation HADIN KAI has urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations, stressing that such collaboration remains critical to tracking criminal elements, preventing attacks, and restoring lasting peace across the Joint Operations Area.
