Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has responded to reports of an alleged disagreement between him and Serah Ibrahim, a prominent grassroots mobiliser associated with his political movement.
Obi’s response was reported on Monday, October 12, 2026, by Daily Post, which published a video report on the development.
Ibrahim has been a visible supporter of Obi and has participated in activities aimed at mobilising public support for his political ambitions. She also featured in the Obidient Movement’s activities in 2025, including the planning of a nationwide rally to mark Obi’s 64th birthday.
The planned celebration attracted public debate after organisers announced a fundraising arrangement. The movement subsequently suspended its public donation drive following criticism and concerns raised by Nigerians.
More recently, Ibrahim’s social media posts have generated discussion among supporters, with some interpreting her comments as evidence of a strained relationship with Obi and sections of his support base.
The reported disagreement has attracted attention as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with Obi emerging as the presidential candidate of the NDC.
However, the precise nature of the alleged fallout, and whether it has affected Ibrahim’s role in Obi’s political mobilisation efforts, remains unclear from the independently accessible reports reviewed for this story.
The development also comes amid separate disagreements involving the Obidient-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement and the NDC over the organisation of campaign structures. Obi had previously distanced himself from a presidential campaign council announced by the support group, saying the party’s official structures should lead its campaign activities.
There is no basis to assume that the dispute involving the OK Movement and the reported disagreement with Ibrahim are the same issue.
