Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has criticised the sons of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over their display of luxury vehicles, urging the governor to prioritise infrastructure development and job creation. His comments have renewed debate about political families, private wealth and public accountability in Nigeria.
The controversy followed social media posts on October 7, 2026, showing musicians Adebayo Adeleke, known as B-Red, and Adesina Adeleke, popularly called Sina Rambo, displaying a red Lamborghini Urus and a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon respectively. VeryDarkMan subsequently questioned the display, linking his criticism to the development needs of Osun State.
“Sinarambo and B red congratulations on your tear leather Lamborghini urus and 2026 G-WAGON, all hail the sons of Osun state governor 6 my own be say make una no finish Osun state funds, make una papa try build infrastructure, make una try create jobs for Osun, OSUN PEOPLE DESERVE BETTER,” he said in remarks attributed to him.
The statement combines congratulations with criticism of the political prominence of the Adeleke family. However, VeryDarkMan did not present evidence that either vehicle was purchased with Osun State funds, and the display of expensive cars does not establish financial misconduct.
B-Red and Sina Rambo are established Nigerian entertainers and cousins of Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, widely known as Davido. Their father, Governor Adeleke, belongs to a family with business interests predating his emergence as governor.
Reports published after the vehicles appeared online identified B-Red as the owner of the Lamborghini Urus and Sina Rambo as the owner of the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. Both vehicles were presented in matching red colours, attracting considerable attention across social media.
The brothers appeared to celebrate their acquisitions together, sharing images and videos that generated congratulatory messages alongside criticism of conspicuous spending.
Davido joined the public celebrations on October 8, posting a brief congratulatory message to his cousins. His reaction further increased attention surrounding the vehicles and their owners.
Online responses reflected differing views about the relationship between private wealth and political responsibility. Some commentators argued that the Adeleke family possessed substantial financial resources before Ademola Adeleke became governor.
Others questioned whether such displays were appropriate when many Nigerians continued to experience economic hardship and rising living expenses.
Those reactions illustrate contrasting public attitudes towards wealth, but they do not establish the sources of financing for the vehicles.
B-Red has previously maintained that his family's wealth is independent of political office. That position is relevant to the controversy because the brothers' family connections alone cannot establish misuse of public resources.
VeryDarkMan's intervention focused particularly on the governor's responsibility to improve living conditions in Osun State.
By urging Adeleke to develop infrastructure and create employment opportunities, the activist connected the luxury vehicle display with broader expectations of elected officials.
His criticism also raised questions about the standards by which citizens assess the performance of political leaders whose relatives enjoy considerable private wealth.
Although the remarks were directed at the governor's sons, the central political issue concerns the administration's record on public investment and economic opportunities.
Adeleke, who assumed office in November 2022, has repeatedly presented infrastructure development as a central priority of his government.
In May 2026, the governor said his administration had committed billions of naira to upgrading roads, schools, healthcare facilities and other public infrastructure.
He made the comments while addressing representatives of the Association of Real Estate Managers and Consultants at the Government House.
According to the governor, the infrastructure programme was intended to stimulate business activity, improve transportation and attract private investment.
He identified road development and urban renewal projects in Osogbo, Ede, Iwo, Ilesa and Ile-Ife among the administration's priorities.
Adeleke also said the government was encouraging the participation of local contractors, engineers, artisans and suppliers in public projects.
He argued that this approach would allow infrastructure expenditure to support employment and economic activity within the state.
The governor further claimed that his administration had reduced Osun's infrastructure deficit by more than half since taking office.
That figure represents the administration's assessment of its performance and would require independent evaluation before being treated as an established measurement.
In April, Adeleke reviewed progress on major construction projects and directed contractors to accelerate work in several communities.
The state government reported ongoing asphalt laying in Ile-Ife, Iwo and Ila Orangun as part of its wider road development programme.
During that review, the governor also complained about a dispute involving local government funds, which he said had affected the financing of public services and development projects.
He accused political opponents of interfering with resources intended for local administration, while maintaining that his government would continue supporting workers and essential services.
Those accusations form part of an ongoing political dispute and should not be treated as judicial findings of wrongdoing.
The administration has also announced measures addressing security and public infrastructure protection.
In April, Adeleke disclosed a state government contribution of ₦300 million towards the Osun State Security Trust Fund.
His brother, businessman Deji Adeleke, separately contributed ₦500 million, according to the state government's announcement.
The governor said the fund would support security equipment, surveillance systems and other measures intended to improve public safety.
These programmes provide relevant context to VeryDarkMan's assertion that the government should concentrate on infrastructure and public welfare.
However, announcements and official statements do not independently establish that every proposed project has been completed or that residents have received the expected benefits.
A comprehensive assessment would require information about project completion, expenditure, procurement, employment outcomes and the distribution of development across communities.
The controversy also highlights the distinction between public accountability and allegations concerning private individuals.
Public officials can legitimately be questioned about budgets, infrastructure delivery, employment programmes and the management of government resources.
Their relatives, however, cannot reasonably be presumed to have received public money merely because they own expensive property or enjoy political connections.
Establishing financial misconduct would require evidence linking specific expenditure to public funds, including relevant transactions or investigative findings.
No such evidence has emerged in the reports reviewed concerning the Lamborghini Urus or Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
The prices paid for the vehicles, their financing arrangements and whether they were purchased outright have not been independently confirmed.
Neither the governor nor his sons had been shown in the reviewed reporting to have responded directly to VeryDarkMan's latest remarks.
The activist has frequently used social media to question government spending, political privilege and the conduct of public officials.
His latest comments place the Osun administration's development claims alongside the public expectations surrounding its performance.
For residents, the substantive questions concern whether government projects are delivered, employment opportunities expand and public resources are managed transparently.
The display of luxury vehicles has provided the immediate focus of the controversy, but it does not resolve those questions.
VeryDarkMan's remarks therefore remain a political criticism rather than evidence of corruption, while Adeleke's development claims remain open to public examination.
As the discussion continues, attention is likely to remain on the administration's infrastructure record, job creation initiatives and the distinction between private family wealth and public finances.
