Suspected armed bandits have reportedly abducted three women, including the wife of a local chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), during an attack on Dirin Daji town in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

According to preliminary accounts from local sources, the attackers entered the town shortly after Isha prayer on Wednesday night, October 21, 2026, firing gunshots and causing fear among residents.

One of the abducted women was identified as the wife of Alhaji Aminu Mai Suga, popularly known as AA Suga, who is described by local sources as the ADC chairman in Sakaba Local Government Area.

The identities of the other two abducted women have not been established.

Local sources also reported that two women sustained gunshot injuries during the attack. One was reportedly shot in the abdomen, while the other suffered a gunshot wound to the buttock.

Both injured women were said to have been taken to a general hospital, where they were receiving medical treatment.

Their current medical conditions have not been independently confirmed, and there is no verified information indicating whether either sustained life-threatening injuries.

The reported abductions followed earlier accounts of gunfire in Dirin Daji, which had raised concerns among residents before the circumstances of the incident became clearer.

According to community accounts, security personnel attempted to rescue the abducted women during the incident but were unable to secure their release.

The circumstances of the reported rescue attempt remain unclear, including the number of security personnel involved and whether there was a direct exchange of gunfire with the attackers.

No official statement has yet established the sequence of events or confirmed the reported security response.

Residents subsequently reported that calm was gradually returning to the town after the attackers withdrew.

However, concern remains over the safety and whereabouts of the three women reportedly taken away during the attack.

There has been no confirmed information about ransom demands, contact from the abductors or the location where the victims are being held.

The incident has renewed concerns about insecurity in parts of Sakaba Local Government Area, where communities have previously experienced attacks attributed to armed criminal groups.

Such incidents have affected residents' freedom of movement, disrupted economic activities and increased fears among families living in vulnerable rural settlements.

The reported targeting of women also raises concerns about the safety and welfare of those abducted, particularly while their whereabouts remain unknown.

For the families involved, obtaining reliable information about the missing women and ensuring their safe return remain immediate priorities.

The two injured women also require continued medical attention, although their treatment and recovery will depend on the severity of their injuries.

As of the time of this report, Stone Reporters News has not obtained independent confirmation from the Kebbi State Police Command regarding the number of abductees, the reported injuries or the alleged rescue attempt.

The identities of the attackers and the direction in which they fled have also not been independently established.

It remains unclear whether security agencies have commenced a coordinated search operation or made any arrests in connection with the incident.

The reported return of relative calm should not be interpreted as confirmation that the threat has been eliminated or that the abducted women have been located.

Further information from security authorities, healthcare officials and credible community representatives will be necessary to establish the full circumstances of the attack.

For now, local accounts indicate that three women remain missing following the reported abduction, while two others are receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.

Residents continue to await news of the abducted women and further clarification from security agencies.

Stone Reporters News will continue to follow developments as efforts to establish the victims' whereabouts and confirm the circumstances of the incident proceed.
