NDIC, CIBN Strengthen Collaboration to Safeguard Nigeria’s Banking System

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, hosted Prof. Pius Deji Olanrewaju, President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), along with members of his executive team, at the NDIC Head Office in Abuja.

The meeting focused on consolidating collaboration between NDIC and CIBN to strengthen the safety and stability of Nigeria’s banking system. Key discussions centered on emerging risks in critical areas such as digital banking, cybersecurity, fraud and forgery prevention, and sound risk management practices.

“We are committed to working closely with CIBN to address these challenges and ensure the resilience of the banking sector,” Mr. Sunday said.

Prof. Olanrewaju commended the NDIC for its milestone initiatives in protecting depositors and promoting overall stability within Nigeria’s financial system. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuous collaboration in safeguarding the nation’s banking sector.
