Imo State and Globacom Join Forces to Launch Ambitious Digital Economy Drive

In a move set to transform the state’s digital landscape, Governor Hope Uzodimma on Tuesday hosted a delegation from Globacom’s Enterprise Business Group at the Government House, Owerri. The team, led by Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, expressed the company’s readiness to collaborate with the state in delivering cutting-edge digital services and infrastructure.

During the courtesy visit, Mr. Odejobi highlighted Globacom’s commitment to supporting Imo State’s digital economy agenda, particularly in fibre connectivity and other technology-driven projects aimed at boosting efficiency, innovation, and economic growth.

Governor Uzodimma welcomed the partnership, describing Globacom as a “proudly Nigerian company” that has consistently championed advancements in the telecommunications sector. He praised the contributions of Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., for his role in driving national development and creating opportunities across multiple sectors.

The governor underscored the state’s commitment to fostering a thriving digital ecosystem, noting that collaboration with Globacom would accelerate plans for the state’s upcoming digital city. This project aims to establish Imo as a technology hub in the Southeast region, creating jobs and enhancing access to digital services for businesses and residents alike.

“The partnership with Globacom will enable us to deliver high-quality digital infrastructure and services to our people, opening doors for innovation, investment, and inclusive economic growth,” Governor Uzodimma stated.

Both parties discussed long-term initiatives, exploring avenues to deepen technological integration, expand connectivity, and leverage digital platforms to enhance public service delivery. The engagement marks a critical step in Imo State’s efforts to position itself as a leader in Nigeria’s digital economy.
