Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced the expansion of his administration’s Imole Business Empowerment Scheme 1.0, benefiting 2,000 women and youths across Osun State. The initiative includes the presentation of Business Registration Certificates, Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, and Start-Up Grants to the beneficiaries.
Governor Adeleke described the programme as a demonstration of people-centered governance and a practical effort to take empowerment beyond slogans. “Each beneficiary will walk away with the tools, resources, and skills needed to begin their journey into entrepreneurship and financial independence,” he said.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements in cooperative financing, Governor Adeleke noted that ₦1.586 billion has already been disbursed through various cooperative and MSMEDF programmes, directly impacting over 20,000 households and empowering cooperative societies across the state. Other initiatives include upgrading the Sen. Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke College of Cooperative Studies to a Uniosun campus and providing targeted support for persons living with disabilities.
The governor emphasized that the empowerment scheme goes beyond cash grants, focusing on capacity building, training, and sustainable business growth, particularly for women and youth, the most productive segment of society.
Commissioner for Empowerment and Cooperatives Development, Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe, lauded the initiative as a testament to the government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development. Beneficiaries were encouraged to use the support wisely and become ambassadors of the programme.
The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye; Yeyeluwa Modupe Adeleke-Sanni; members of the State Executive Council; and representatives from Fidelity Bank and First Bank.
