The Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Major General Mohammed Sani Sami (Rtd), has passed away at the age of 81 in a London hospital following a brief illness.
The late Emir, a highly respected traditional ruler and elder statesman, was also a former military governor of Bauchi State. He served Nigeria both in the military and in traditional leadership, earning recognition for his dedication to public service, peace, and community development.
His death marks the end of an era for the Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State at large, where he held deep cultural and historical significance.
In a statement issued by the Kebbi State Government, condolences were extended to the family of the late Emir, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the people of the state. The government described his passing as a great loss and pledged to honor his legacy.
Details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced by the Emirate Council in due course.
