
The Health Service Commission (HSC) has commended the General Hospital, Somolu, for its enhanced health service delivery following an evaluation and compliance tour conducted on Thursday.
Leading the HSC delegation, Dr. Ololade Fadipe, Commissioner IV, praised the hospital for maintaining high healthcare standards despite its space limitations. “The operational standard of the hospital as well as the sanitation system is commendable,” she noted.
In his response, the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Mustapha Adebola Quadri, expressed gratitude to the HSC team for their positive assessment. He also extended appreciation to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his administration’s commitment and investment in ensuring that the General Hospital, Somolu, continues to stand out as a model of quality healthcare delivery in the state.
The HSC Commissioner and her team, whose oversight functions cover six hospitals—General Hospital Somolu, Harvey Road General Hospital, Mushin General Hospital, Isolo General Hospital, Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, and the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Lagos—were conducted around various facilities.
Areas inspected during the tour included the Accident and Emergency Ward, Labour Ward, Post and Neonatal Ward, Laboratory Department, the Eye Clinic, and the proposed site for a new hospital building.
The visit reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to continuous monitoring and supervision of public hospitals across Lagos State, ensuring that operational standards are maintained and that residents continue to access quality healthcare services.
