The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the arrest of thirteen suspected bandits and their collaborators, the recovery of four firearms, and the rescue of nineteen kidnap victims across the state.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Maikaba, disclosed these achievements while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Gusau, the state capital. The successes, recorded in August alone, are part of the ongoing security operations aimed at curbing banditry in Northwest Nigeria.

CP Maikaba said the anti-kidnapping unit acted on credible intelligence on August 17, 2025, leading to the arrest of suspects in Sokoto State who confessed involvement in attacks on six villages. A fierce gun battle with the bandits enabled the rescue of the kidnapped victims, who have since been safely reunited with their families.

In addition to the four firearms, four magazines were recovered from the arrested suspects. The police chief praised the officers and men who performed exceptionally during the operations, emphasizing that the command will continue to intensify efforts to dismantle bandit networks and restore peace in affected communities.

“These successes reinforce our commitment to safeguarding lives and properties in Zamfara State. We will not relent in the fight against criminal elements,” CP Maikaba said.
