Akoko-Edo Council Chairman Condoles with Families of Fallen NSCDC Officers

The Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, has extended condolences to the families of eight Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers killed by suspected bandits at the BUA Cement Factory in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area, Edo State, on September 6, 2025.

Hon. Oshionogue paid a condolence visit to the family of one of the deceased, Mr. Akerejola Kenneth Ekundayo, an indigene of Ibillo, describing the loss as “pathetic” and a significant blow to the community. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ajayi Julius, the Chairman hailed the officers as courageous individuals who paid the supreme price while serving to protect lives, maintain peace, and ensure security across Etsako East and the state at large.

The Council Chairman assured the bereaved family of the government and people of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area’s support, affirming that the sacrifices of the departed, particularly the Akoko-Edo indigene, will never be forgotten.

Master Ekundayo Dennis, son of the late officer, expressed gratitude to the Council Chairman and his team for their compassion and support during this difficult time, and wished him continued success in his leadership of the local government.

Late Akerejola Kenneth Ekundayo is survived by his wife, six children, mother, and siblings. Hon. Oshionogue was accompanied on the visit by his Chief Security Officer, Ajayi Linus; Hon. Ibrahim Ganiyu, Supervisor for Works; Hon. Akao Monday, Supervisor for Agriculture; and other aides.
