The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu (CON), on Monday, October 6, 2025, officially flagged-off the integrated vaccination campaign targeting Measles-Rubella (MR), Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Polio, Routine Immunization (RI), and Neglected Tropical Diseases.
The event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare through the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), was held in Abuja and attracted dignitaries, partners, and guests from across the nation. The ambitious campaign targets 106 million children, regardless of their previous immunization status.
“This initiative ensures that every eligible child has access to life-saving vaccines. No child will be left behind,” said Nnedinma Okeke, PRO of NPHCDA, highlighting the nationwide scope of the programme.
The campaign marks the official commencement of the Measles-Rubella vaccination drive across the country. States will implement the campaign in phases to ensure comprehensive coverage, with Anambra State and other South-Eastern states expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.
The initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening public health, preventing vaccine-preventable diseases, and improving child health outcomes across Nigeria.
