Reno Omokri, political commentator and author, has publicly responded to former presidential candidate Peter Obi, addressing claims regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic credentials. Omokri dismissed the allegations as unfounded and reiterated that President Tinubu attended and graduated from Chicago State University.

Omokri cited multiple sources to support his claims. He noted that during his visit to Chicago State University on September 19, 2022, he confirmed firsthand that President Tinubu was admitted, attended classes, and graduated. The university also provided a formal letter verifying these facts.

He further referenced the oath-sworn testimony of Caleb Westberg, Registrar of Chicago State University, affirming that Tinubu graduated in 1979. Additionally, Omokri highlighted that the BBC had debunked the claims that President Tinubu forged his certificate.

Omokri also criticized Obi’s personal and political record, citing the Pandora Papers investigation and alleged mismanagement of Anambra State funds. He accused Obi of misleading the public, attacking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and damaging Nigeria’s international reputation through false claims.

“Peter Obi, your desperation has deranged you to the point where your rants are blurring the lines between fantasy and reality,” Omokri wrote, adding that Obi’s actions have further diminished his prospects of ever becoming president.

Omokri’s statement underscores the ongoing political tensions and discourse surrounding electoral credibility and public accountability in Nigeria.
