Nigeria, EU Strengthen Partnership in Strategic Dialogue, Says Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

The Federal Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has described a recent meeting with the European Union (EU) group of Ambassadors as highly engaging, emphasizing the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between Nigeria and the EU.

Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, Minister Odumegwu-Ojukwu highlighted that the partnership is anchored in shared values of democracy, peace, prosperity, and respect for multilateralism. She noted that over the past two decades, the collaboration has evolved from traditional development assistance into a strategic engagement, covering areas such as trade, political dialogue, security cooperation, climate change, migration, and digital transformation.

The Minister further stated that the EU remains Nigeria's largest trading partner and continues to be a significant source of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), reinforcing the importance of continued cooperation for economic growth and sustainable development.

Officials at the meeting reiterated that strengthening Nigeria-EU relations is vital for advancing regional stability, development, and collective action on global challenges.
