Residents of Kudendan community in Chikun Local Government Area have appealed to the local government chairman, Engr. Salasi Musa, to urgently address long-standing infrastructural neglect in their community.
At the heart of their concerns is the community graveyard, which remains largely inaccessible due to the absence of a mini culvert. Despite submitting multiple letters and appeals, residents say no action has been taken, leaving them unable to properly access the resting place of their loved ones.
Many residents described the situation as not merely an infrastructural failure, but a denial of dignity. They allege that while other projects have recently been approved by the local government, the culvert crucial to the community was omitted, deepening their sense of marginalization.
The community also expressed disappointment in their ward councillor, who serves as Speaker of the Local Government Council, stating that he has failed to advocate for their needs or ensure the culvert was included in the list of approved projects.
Residents highlighted a stark disparity between Kudendan and neighboring communities, noting that while other areas enjoy modern infrastructure and functional public facilities, Kudendan’s amenities remain in disrepair.
“The time for promises is over. We are calling on the local government chairman to act now. Our people deserve to be heard, and our needs deserve attention,” the residents stated. They further vowed to press their demands until decisive government action is taken, insisting that true leadership must prioritize the welfare and dignity of all communities.
