The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Service, High Chief Lucky Asanakpo, has credited the outstanding success of the state’s volunteer outfit to the unwavering support and leadership of Governor Douye Diri.

In an exclusive interview held in his Yenagoa office, Chief Asanakpo lauded the Governor’s dedication to strengthening Bayelsa’s security architecture, noting that his proactive approach has significantly improved peace and order across the state.

He emphasized that the relative calm currently experienced in areas such as Etegwe, Swali, and other parts of the state is a direct result of Governor Diri’s consistent investment in the security sector.

“While no society can boast of absolute security, the Prosperity Administration deserves commendation for making Bayelsa one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria,” Asanakpo stated.

Chief Asanakpo also extended appreciation to the Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu, for his tireless efforts in maintaining law and order, describing the synergy between the Volunteer Service and other security agencies as a key factor in the state’s stability.

“We all know how the Etegwe/Tombia axis used to be before the Prosperity Government came on board. During the campaign, the Governor promised prosperity — and before there can be prosperity, there must first be peace. The Governor directed, and we have done our part to bring lasting peace to that area,” he said.

According to him, since Governor Diri assumed office, Bayelsa has witnessed sustained peace, improved inter-agency collaboration, and progress in infrastructure across all local government areas.

Chief Asanakpo further commended the Governor’s recent procurement of gas turbines, describing the initiative as transformative and one that will boost Bayelsa’s socio-economic growth, enhance power supply, and strengthen overall development.

He concluded by expressing confidence that by the end of his tenure, Governor Diri would have written his name in gold in the history of Bayelsa State, owing to his inclusive governance and commitment to peace and prosperity.
