The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, today received the leadership of the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON), led by its National President, Comrade Paul O. Ochonu, AIG (Rtd), NPM, along with members of the association’s National Executive Council.

The visit served as a “thank you” call, with NARPON expressing appreciation for Comrade Ajaero’s support and facilitation of the association’s affiliation with the NLC — a milestone that has enhanced NARPON’s credibility and strengthened its voice within the labour movement. The delegation reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the ideals and values of the NLC with pride and solidarity.

In his remarks, Comrade Ajaero welcomed NARPON into the NLC family, underscoring that every worker holds the constitutional right to freely associate and belong to a union of their choice. He stressed that protecting this freedom is a cornerstone of democracy and that any infringement would undermine fundamental rights and democratic principles.

The visit concluded with a symbolic presentation of NARPON’s Certificate of Registration by Comrade Ochonu to the NLC President, formally marking the association’s full affiliation and acceptance into the Congress.
