Emergency response teams from NEMA, FEMSAS, the Nigerian Army, NSCDC, DSS, Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Police Force converged at the International Conference Centre for a live simulation exercise aimed at educating the public on how to respond effectively during emergencies.

The exercise highlighted the urgent need for preparedness, particularly after recent incidents where panic replaced readiness, such as a viral video of bank staff leaping from a two-storey building during a fire. The drill was designed to equip citizens with practical knowledge to act swiftly and safely when unforeseen events occur.

For the simulation, a political rally scenario was staged: armed thugs stormed the grounds, hostages were taken, and shots were fired. The exercise demonstrated the tactical coordination required among agencies, showcasing how teams respond under pressure, manage chaos, and protect civilians.

Officials emphasized that preparedness is critical and that such exercises are essential in ensuring both responders and the public are ready for emergencies. These drills serve as a reminder that safety requires planning, practice, and awareness before disaster strikes.
