Anambra State has reaffirmed its leadership in Nigeria’s education sector, securing nine awards at the 2025 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
Woliwo Primary School II, Onitsha, emerged as the overall best school in Nigeria, receiving a 16-seater bus as the star prize. Several teachers and administrators from both public and private schools across the state were also recognised for their excellence, with laptops awarded to each recipient.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, commended Anambra State for its consistent performance and educational achievements. Reacting to the recognition, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his administration’s sustained investment in education, including teacher recruitment, free education initiatives, and the establishment of smart schools. She also conveyed optimism that Anambra State will continue to reach higher educational milestones under Governor Soludo’s leadership.
Representatives from the award-winning schools thanked the governor for revitalizing education in the state and pledged ongoing commitment to providing globally competitive learning opportunities for children.
