The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Sen. Oluremi Tinubu (CON), on October 6, officially flagged-off the integrated national campaign for Measles-Rubella (MR), Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Polio, Routine Immunization (RI) vaccines, and Neglected Tropical Diseases interventions.
The launch, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare through the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), took place in Abuja and was attended by dignitaries, partners, and stakeholders from across the country. The campaign targets 106 million children, irrespective of their previous immunization history.
This initiative marks the commencement of phased Measles-Rubella vaccination campaigns across Nigeria to ensure that no eligible child is left behind. Anambra State, along with other South Eastern states, is scheduled to begin its Measles-Rubella vaccination drive in the first quarter of 2026.
The First Lady emphasised the importance of collective participation in immunization efforts to protect children from preventable diseases and strengthen the nation’s public health outcomes.
