On Tuesday, 7 October 2025, the Nigerian Navy (NN) commissioned the newly constructed Fedegbo Mega Aso-Ofi Weaving Centre at the Ogbomoso Ultra Modern Market in Oyo State. The multi-million naira project, executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme (CNS-SIQIPS), was facilitated by Rear Admiral Sunday John Oyegade to promote civil-military cooperation and support socio-economic development in local communities.

Represented at the event by the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Doctrine Command, Rear Admiral Shehu Usman Gombe, the Navy commended the host community and facilitator for their collaboration. Rear Admiral Gombe emphasized that initiatives like the weaving centre create opportunities for youth empowerment, skill acquisition, and positive interaction between the Armed Forces and civilians, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, the Soun of Ogbomoso and Special Guest of Honour, praised the Navy and Rear Admiral Oyegade for their visionary leadership. He described the modern centre as a landmark project that will boost local economic activities, enhance Aso-Ofi production, and preserve the cultural heritage of Ogbomoso.

The commissioning of the Fedegbo Mega Aso-Ofi Weaving Centre underscores the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to fostering sustainable partnerships with host communities and contributing meaningfully to national development.
