The First Lady of Lagos State and Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled plans for the 25th edition of the National Women’s Conference (NWC), describing it as a landmark celebration of women’s empowerment, transformative leadership, and COWLSO’s enduring legacy. Speaking at a press briefing held at the Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, Dr. Sanwo-Olu said this year’s Silver Jubilee edition, themed “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation,” reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to the welfare, leadership, and economic advancement of women in Lagos and beyond.

The three-day conference, scheduled to hold from Tuesday, October 28 to Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, is expected to draw 3,000 physical delegates and 2,000 virtual participants from across Nigeria and other countries. Dr. Sanwo-Olu announced that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, will deliver the Silver Jubilee Address, while Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the Opening Ceremony, and Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto will grace the Closing Ceremony alongside the host, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. She emphasised that the participation of high-profile dignitaries underscores COWLSO’s national influence and its role as a unifying platform for women’s development.
The First Lady highlighted that the conference will feature pre-conference activities designed to impact grassroots communities, including free health screenings, environmental sanitation exercises, empowerment initiatives for vulnerable groups, and visits to orphanages and care homes. She also announced the COWLSO Pre-Conference Awareness Walk, themed “Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up,” scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Ikorodu, aimed at sensitising residents about the upcoming event and inspiring resilience among women.
During the conference, participants can expect plenary discussions, exhibitions, and interactive sessions covering diverse themes such as practical applications for improved daily living, business support and productivity, women championing traffic discipline through smarter transportation systems, nurturing healthy marriages through self-care and wellness, and combating trafficking and unsafe practices. The event will also feature COWLSO Physical and Virtual Markets for participants to access goods and services at subsidized rates, and a Gala Night with entertainment, cultural showcases, and raffle draws.
Earlier, Dr. Olayemi Oke-Osanyitolu, Chairman of the 2025 National Women’s Conference, described the event as a historic Silver Jubilee celebration of women’s empowerment, leadership, and service. She praised Dr. Sanwo-Olu for her leadership and commitment to advancing women’s causes in Lagos and beyond, noting that the conference has consistently inspired women to drive positive change in their communities.
The press briefing was attended by Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, and members of COWLSO.
