Activist and journalist Omoyele Sowore has raised serious concerns over the murder of Otunba Bamidele Akingnoye (OBA), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate, calling the case “an extremely disturbing issue to public attention regarding the murder of Otunba Bamidele Akingnoye (OBA).”
According to Sowore, information indicates that Akingnoye was allegedly killed by his wife and some of his children. He further accused Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood, of “actively assisting in covering up this grave crime.”
Sowore warned against the potential rise of compromised officials, noting: “We are aware of Mr. Moshood's aspirations to become the next illegal Inspector General of Police (IGP). We must ensure that such an individual, who appears willing to compromise justice, is not allowed to reach that position.”
He concluded with a call to action: “We cannot permit this cover-up to proceed unchallenged.”
The allegations have intensified demands for an independent and transparent investigation into Akingnoye’s death, as well as scrutiny of police conduct in Lagos State.
