Although named the “Islamic” Solidarity Games, non-Muslims from OIC member states are also allowed to participate.

Nigeria has participated in previous editions of the Games, with appearances in 2005, 2013, 2017, and 2021. Over the years, the country has earned a total of eleven medals, achieving its best performance at the 2017 Games in Baku where it won six medals, including two golds. In the 2021 Games held in Konya, Nigeria secured five medals. Overall, the country ranks 24th on the all-time medal table for the Islamic Solidarity Games.

As Team Nigeria heads to Riyadh, fans and sports enthusiasts are wishing the athletes success and hope they will continue to build on the nation’s previous performances and bring home more glory.
