Kaduna Police Bust Child-Trafficking Ring, Rescue 17 Children and Arrest Three Suspects

The Kaduna State Police Command has uncovered and disrupted an alleged child-trafficking network, rescuing 17 children and arresting three suspects believed to be behind the operation.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the breakthrough came after officers acted swiftly on credible intelligence received on November 12 about suspicious activities around the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.

Responding to the alert, operatives from the Danmagaji Division intercepted the suspects and found 17 children of various ages in their custody.

Preliminary findings revealed that the minors were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country and beyond.

Police disclosed that the arrested suspects hail from different communities in Katsina and Kano States, specifically Funtua, Ingawa, and Unguwa Uku.

Investigators also established that the children were taken from multiple communities before being transported toward the capital.

“Early investigations indicate that the children were taken from different communities and were being transported to Abuja.”

DSP Hassan assured the public that all 17 rescued children are in good health and currently receiving care under the protection of the police.

“All the rescued children are in good health and are now under the care of the police command.”

Authorities have launched efforts to trace their families and reunite the victims with their parents or guardians.

Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the officers involved for their prompt response and reiterated the command’s firm stance against criminal activities targeting minors.

He also confirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted once ongoing investigations are concluded.
