Zamfara State has been plunged into shock following the fatal shooting of Umar Moriki, a senior chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party confirmed the incident, describing it as a devastating loss for both the state and the party.

According to reports, Moriki was ambushed by suspected bandits on Saturday morning while traveling from Gusau to Kaduna. The attack occurred along the Gusau–Tsafe road, near Fegi village in Tsafe Local Government Area.

The circumstances surrounding the attack are still under investigation, and no arrests have been reported so far. The Zamfara APC chapter expressed deep grief over the incident, emphasizing Moriki’s importance to the party and his contributions to state politics.
