Asaba, Delta State – A Federal High Court in Asaba, under the leadership of Hon. Justice F.A. Olubanjo, has handed down a conviction against 26-year-old Chinonso Omengor.
Omengor was found guilty of trafficking individuals for the purpose of prostitution and arranging foreign travel that facilitated such activities. The offences violate Sections 14(b) and 18 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act of 2015.
The court sentenced Omengor to seven years in prison for each charge, with the sentences to be served concurrently. Additionally, she was ordered to pay a total fine of ₦10 million and provide ₦1 million in compensation to the victim.
