Kano State Governor Mourns Death of Renowned Pharmaceutical Entrepreneur

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the passing of Alhaji Ado Aminu Mai Shinkafa, a prominent Kano-based medical and pharmaceutical businessman.

Alhaji Ado Lamco, as he was popularly known, was the founder of Lamco Pharmacy, a well-known and respected establishment in Kano. He passed away at a hospital in Cairo on Monday, November 17, 2025, while receiving treatment. He was 70 years old.

The governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, announced the death in a statement issued in Kano on Tuesday. Governor Yusuf described Alhaji Ado Lamco as a symbol of excellence and a true son of Kano. He praised him for dedicating his life to empowering others and said his legacy will continue to inspire many in the pharmaceutical industry.

On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the business community. He also prayed for the soul of the deceased, asking Allah to grant him Aljanah Firdausi and to give his family the strength to bear the loss.

Family sources have confirmed that Alhaji Ado Lamco's remains will arrive in Nigeria from Egypt on Thursday for burial according to Islamic rites.
