The Anambra State Police have announced that they rescued a 3-year-old girl who was kidnapped. The rescue happened early on November 21, 2025, when officers from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu successfully found and recovered the girl.
The case was transferred from the Ogbaru Division, Atani, and involved charges of conspiracy, child stealing, and harboring. The police carried out careful, intelligence-led operations and found the girl in Nnobi, in the Idemili South area of Anambra State. The girl has now been safely reunited with her parents.
Initial investigations showed that the girl was stolen by a woman named Miss Chioma Anioma, who was an apprentice working with the victim’s family. Chioma reportedly escaped from the police in Calabar, Cross River State, after realizing she was about to be caught. It was also discovered that she had sold the girl to another suspect, who is currently on the run.
To avoid arrest, Chioma abandoned the girl at Nnobi and later contacted the girl’s parents to tell them where she was. The police are now working hard to identify, trace, and arrest all those involved in the kidnapping and trafficking of the child.
