Sokoto, Nigeria – In a chilling escalation of violence across Northwest Nigeria, armed bandit groups launched coordinated attacks overnight, targeting communities in Burmawa, Rabah LGA, and Gida Amada, Wurno LGA in Sokoto State. The raids left residents dead, injured, and several girls abducted.

Eyewitnesses report that the bandits struck under the cover of darkness, sowing fear and disrupting daily life. In Gida Amada, at least 10 girls were taken, while in Burmawa, multiple families suffered injuries and losses. Residents warn that the persistent insecurity may force families to flee, schools to close, and normal economic and social activities to stall, as the security presence in rural areas remains minimal.

Security analysts note that such repeated attacks are eroding livelihoods, destabilizing social structures, and increasing displacement across the Northwest. Banditry continues to hollow out once-safe communities, leaving residents living in fear and uncertainty.

The escalating violence underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures, coordinated community protection, and rapid government intervention to safeguard civilians and prevent further deterioration of social and economic life in the region.

No official statement has yet been released by security authorities, but residents continue to appeal for reinforcements and emergency support to curb the ongoing attacks.
