The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade has started a special operation called OPERATION ZAFIN WUTA to bring peace and stability to Taraba State. The operation officially began on 22 November 2025 and includes both military actions and humanitarian support in the areas of Takum and Wukari.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the commander of 6 Brigade, is leading the operation. He was joined by Dr. Echuseh Audu, the head of Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Takum Local Government Area Chairman, Mr. Benjamin Bako.
As part of the operation, the team visited camps where internally displaced persons (IDPs) are staying at 93 Battalion Mammy Market, Kufai-Amadu, and Chanchanji in Takum. They distributed food, medicine, and other relief materials to help those who have been forced to leave their homes due to violence.
Brig Gen Uwa showed sympathy for the displaced people and reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to fighting crime and restoring security in the area. He urged local communities to share credible information that can help security forces succeed.
Community leaders expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army, SEMA, and the Taraba State Government for their support. They appealed for continued efforts to help displaced families return safely to their homes.
Brig Gen Uwa also led a show of force, a display of military strength, in Takum town, Kufai-Amadu, Chanchanji, and parts of Wukari to demonstrate the army’s presence and determination.
He paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Wukari, His Royal Majesty Manu Ishaku Ada Ali, known as the Aku Uka. During the visit, he briefed the king about the progress of Operation ZAFIN WUTA and asked for his support and blessings.
The Aku Uka praised the operation and pledged full cooperation with the Nigerian Army, especially in encouraging community support and gathering reliable intelligence.
These activities show that the Nigerian Army and its partners are working hard to protect communities, support vulnerable people, and foster lasting peace in Taraba State. The operation is making steady progress by combining military efforts with humanitarian support to achieve the best results.
