There was no attack at the Government Girls College in Maiduguri on November 24, 2025, despite earlier reports. At around 7:30 pm, the police received a distress call about an alleged incident at the school.
Officers from the Borno State Police Command, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Garba Audu Bosso, responded quickly to the scene. They conducted an immediate assessment and found that the tension was caused by panic among students near the staff quarters gate. The students claimed to have seen unidentified individuals behind the school fence, which sparked fear.
This fear led to a minor stampede, but thankfully, no lives were lost. The police have confirmed that the situation has been brought under control and normal activities have resumed.
The Borno State Police Commissioner, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, urged residents to stay calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
The police also assured the public that further details will be shared soon.
This update was issued by ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Command, on November 24, 2025.
