Bayelsa Volunteer Security Outfit Apprehends Suspect in N750,000 Robbery Case

The Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit has successfully apprehended a suspect, Mr. Frank Henry, an indigene of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and alleged member of the Greenland confraternity, in connection with the robbery of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦750,000).

According to reports, the victim, who requested anonymity, was attacked at gunpoint on 17th November 2025 while on his way to purchase flour for his bakery. The robbery was reportedly executed by Henry and two accomplices, identified as Ebitimi and Zamond, who are currently at large.

Upon receiving credible intelligence about the incident, operatives of the Volunteer Security Outfit from the Swali Unit swiftly intervened and apprehended Henry. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.

Following his arrest, Henry was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at Doo Akpo for further investigation and prosecution according to the law.

High Chief Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit, confirmed the arrest and commended his operatives for their prompt action. He emphasized the agency’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Bayelsa State and reiterated that the volunteer outfit will remain vigilant in curbing criminal activities while maintaining peace in the communities.

The operation has been hailed as a demonstration of the growing effectiveness of community-driven security initiatives in supplementing conventional policing efforts in the state.
