Tension has gripped communities in Kwara State following a fresh wave of abductions carried out by suspected terrorists in the early hours of Tuesday. At least 11 residents of Isapa, a community near Eruku in the Ekiti Local Government Area, were kidnapped during the attack.
Local sources say the gunmen stormed the community around midnight, shooting sporadically and forcing residents out of their homes. Among those taken is a heavily pregnant woman, several children, and other members of the community whose identities have yet to be officially released.
The attackers were reported to have fled through a bush path toward the boundary areas between Kwara and Kogi states — a corridor long regarded as vulnerable to bandit movements.
Residents say the incident is the second major attack in the region within a short period, raising renewed fears over security lapses and inadequate protection for rural communities.
Security operatives, including local vigilantes, are said to be combing the forests in search of the victims, though no official statement has been issued by the Kwara State Police Command as of press time.
Families of the abducted individuals have called on the state government and federal authorities to intervene urgently, warning that the community is living in fear and fatigue due to repeated attacks.
