The Kano State Executive Council has demanded an immediate investigation and the arrest of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The council described Ganduje’s recent comments about the security situation in the state as “inciting and reckless.”
This decision was made during the 34th Executive Meeting held on Thursday at the Government House in Kano. During the meeting, officials reviewed statements made by Ganduje and the Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin.
Ganduje and Jibrin had claimed that Kano is increasingly vulnerable to bandit attacks. They also announced plans to recruit 12,000 people into a proposed religious police organization called Khairul Nas. The Kano State government and security agencies have not yet commented publicly on the calls for investigation, but the council’s decision highlights ongoing concerns over the security situation in the state.
