On November 28, 2025, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, met with the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olushola Oladoja, along with other national student leaders at the government house in Minna. During the meeting, the governor emphasized the importance of Nigerian students in safeguarding the country's future.

Governor Bago tasked the students with the responsibility of being patriotic citizens. He highlighted that the future and integrity of Nigeria depend largely on the youth, especially students, who make up a significant part of the population. The governor expressed concern about the way some youths use social media to spread negative issues about Nigeria and urged the students to promote love for their country instead.

He advised the students to focus on positive initiatives such as food security by establishing student farms and assured them of his ongoing support for their success. The governor also acknowledged that the current administration is doing a lot to support the next generation of leaders.

In response, Comrade Olushola Oladoja assured that NANS would promote dialogue and understanding among students rather than conflict. He mentioned that the association has already begun campaigns on campuses to encourage effective communication and peaceful resolution of issues.

Oladoja also praised the federal government’s efforts under President Tinubu, including the introduction of zero-interest student loans to reduce school dropouts caused by financial difficulties. He expressed gratitude to the governor for approving billions of naira for scholarships and for appointing many youths into key positions. He also commended the ongoing infrastructural development across Niger State.
