Rabat, Morocco – November 29, 2025: Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has pitched his state as a key agricultural hub for investors during the Africa Investment Forum (AIF) Market Days 2025 in Rabat, Morocco.
Speaking at the forum, Governor Lawal highlighted Zamfara’s fertile lands and diverse crop production, stressing that the state’s comparative advantage lies in agriculture. “In Zamfara State, our comparative advantage is Agriculture. We grow all crops in the state; we are not limited to soybeans. We have the land, and it is fertile,” he said.
On the sidelines of the event, the Governor signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) to drive large-scale agricultural transformation under the INTEGRANIUM Agricultural Transformation Initiative. The initiative focuses on mechanized farming, agro-processing, post-harvest systems, and improving access to global markets.
Under the agreement, Zamfara State will provide land, infrastructure, security, and an enabling policy environment, while MOFI will lead financing mobilization, investor engagement, and project development. The partnership aims to create jobs, enhance food security, strengthen value chains, and accelerate inclusive economic growth in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.
Governor Lawal further invited international investors to take advantage of ongoing developments in the state, including the near-completion of an international cargo airport, the construction of a five-star hotel, and urban renewal projects. “Agriculture is the way forward for Africa, Nigeria, and Zamfara State in particular due to the many opportunities available,” he added.
The Africa Investment Forum, led by the African Development Bank and six partner institutions, is designed to unify African investors, streamline project financing, and accelerate investment across the continent. Governor Lawal participated in panels on public-private partnerships, mobilizing domestic capital, and creating enabling environments for private investment.
