Bandits Kill One, Kidnap Three in Yankamaye Attack in Kano State

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Yankamaye town in Kano State’s Tsanyawa Local Government Area, killing one person and kidnapping three others. The incident was confirmed by Hon. Sani Bala Tsanyawa, the lawmaker representing Ghari and Tsanyawa Federal Constituency, who shared the information on his Facebook page.

In his post, he said, “Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. We are just receiving reports that bandits have attacked the old town of Yankamaye, killing one person and abducting three others.” The attack reportedly happened around 11 pm on Saturday, when most residents had already gone to bed.

The Kano State Police Command also confirmed the attack. Their spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, told reporters, “We have received reports of the attack and personnel have been deployed to ensure the rescue of the victims.”

Yankamaye is located near the border with Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, an area that has experienced ongoing banditry and kidnappings. As of now, the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown. The police are still investigating the incident.
