The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong response to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, following his recent claims that both the PDP and APC are responsible for bringing insecurity and hunger to Nigeria. The APC branded Atiku as the “Godfather of National Ruin,” accusing him of having no moral right to speak on Nigeria’s problems, and of being the architect of the disasters the country currently faces.

The APC pointed out that Atiku was directly involved in supervising the controversial sale of Nigeria’s national assets, a move that privatized key industries. This privatization, the party claims, led to factory closures, massive job losses, and economic decline. They dismissed Atiku’s denial of involvement as hypocritical and audacious.

The party further blamed Atiku for being part of the PDP era that saw the rise of Boko Haram into a major security threat, the rampant spread of corruption, the squandering of oil revenues, and widespread economic vandalism from 1999 to 2015. They asked Nigerians to consider who really brought insecurity and hunger to the nation—implying that Atiku himself was involved.

The APC also criticized Atiku’s long political career, noting that despite contesting presidential elections multiple times over the years, he has little to show for it except controversies and contradictions. They highlighted the poor state of Adamawa, his home state, which under his leadership, they say, has been plagued by poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, and hopelessness.

The party described Atiku’s relentless pursuit of power as a threat to Nigeria’s stability and progress. They called him a “wandering political relic,” whose political career is in decline.

In contrast, APC emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to repair the damage inherited from the previous administration, including fighting corruption, rebuilding security, resetting the economy, and implementing nationwide reforms.

The APC urged Atiku to accept his rejection at the polls, at the state level, and within his own party, suggesting that he should seek forgiveness from Nigerians for what they call his economic and political crimes. They also advised him to focus on making amends rather than continuing to oppose the current government.

In their final remarks, the APC dismissed Atiku’s recent accusations as hypocritical and a sign of a failed political career. They stated that they would not allow him to rewrite Nigeria’s history with falsehoods.
