Bandits launched another deadly attack early this morning on farmers in Adabka, a community on the outskirts of Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one farmer and abducting several others in what residents describe as a renewed wave of violence targeting rural communities during the harvest season.

The victim, identified as Mukhtar Abdullahi Adabka, was reportedly shot dead as he worked on his farmland. Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the area while farmers were harvesting their crops, a period traditionally associated with heightened security risks in the Northwest.

Multiple farmers were seized and taken away into the forest, further deepening fear among residents who depend on farming for survival. Community members say the continuous assaults on farmers have now escalated into a major threat to both food security and personal safety.

The incident adds to growing concerns about the inability of authorities to stop bandits who continue to operate with alarming confidence across Zamfara and neighbouring states. Citizens have described the situation as “very worrisome”, especially as farmers remain vulnerable at a crucial time in the agricultural cycle.

The attack has drawn attention from journalists, activists, and observers across social media, who are calling for urgent government intervention to protect rural communities.
